NEW OWNERSHIP OCTOBER 2010! Brownber Hall Country House is a quiet retreat offering excellent AA 4-star guest accommodation. It is the only accommodation in the area with a lift. Guests are assured of a warm welcome and a peaceful and relaxing stay. The hall is set amid beautiful rolling countryside near the village of Newbiggin-on-Lune near Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. It very easy to access from the M6 but is well away from the nearest main road with off-road parking available. Check-in time is 4-9pm but if you wish to arrive outside these hours please contact us and we will do our best to meet your wishes. Brownber Hall is now licensed to sell alcohol and although we don't have a public bar we keep a selection of wines and local ales. We don't do evening meals but can recommend some good places to eat nearby. Brownber Hall enjoys a unique and wonderful location. HOW TO FIND USFrom M6 J38 (Tebay)Follow the A685 east towards Kirkby Stephen and Brough. After about 5 miles as you reach the sign Newbiggin-on- Lune take the turning to the left signposted to Kelleth and Gt. Asby into High Lane. Follow directions from High Lane given below.From the A1Take the A66 west from Scotch corner to Brough. Turn south at Brough on the A685. Follow the A685 through Kirkby Stephen. About 5 miles past Kirkby Stephen you will approach the village of Newbiggin-on-Lune on your left. Continue onwards a few hundred yards on the A685 ignoring the signs for the village and take the turning to the right signposted to Kelleth and Gt. Asby into High Lane. Follow directions from High Lane given below.From High LaneThe drive leading to Brownber Hall Country House Kirkby Stephen is the third drive on the right about 60 yards up High Lane. The entrance gates are set back a little and bear a big Brownber Hall sign. Be aware that some GPS systems may try to take you further up High Lane to a bridleway if you cross a cattle grid you have gone too far. Turn into the main gate pass the lodge and follow the road round. You will pass a second house on the left and will see Brownber Hall raised high on the left of the lane. The entrance to Brownber Hall is just past the front of the building and requires a sharp turn back on yourself to the left. Parking is available at either end of the building.
