The Kings Head Free House is a Georgian coaching inn situated in the idyllic village of Hursley just 2 miles from the historical City of Winchester in Hampshire and 7 miles from Southampton airport. We offer a warm welcome and traditional rural hospitality to rival all other inns and hotels in Winchester. The village of Hursley is most well known for its strong associations with the family of Oliver Cromwell; it is for this reason that it is believed the King's Head originally gained its name. Our location is ideal for guests wishing to visit Hampshire's key tourist attractions including: Winchester Cathedral King Arthur's round table Beaulieu and Mottisfont Abbey and Gardens. Located in close proximity to the M3 M27 Winchester Southampton and Southampton airport the King's Head is also an ideal choice for business customers requiring a convenient and relaxing retreat after a busy working day. Rooms - Each of our individually designed en-suite bedrooms offers all the comfort and facilities that you would expect to find in a small country hotel whilst retaining an individual ambience. All rooms are fully equipped with TV DVD and internet access as well as tea and coffee making facilities and our bathrooms are stocked with bath and shower products as well as superbly fluffy towels. Bar - The King's Head is a free house and this has allowed us to put together a diverse assortment of local and regional ales and the finest ciders and lagers available. Wines are sourced from a number of local as well as London-based merchants giving us a broad and global coverage and we take great care in stocking and cellaring our wines. Restaurant - In our restaurant head chef makes full use of the abundance of excellent local produce and we are also members and supporters of Hampshire Fare our local food group. Our emphasis is on local home-cooked food. Our core menu changes seasonally and in addition there is always a large selection of daily starter main-course and pudding specials' from which to choose.
