The George Inn is a beautuiful 15th century thatched pub set in the heart of picturesque Chardstock right on the the Devon Dorset and Somerset borders. It was originally a Church or Parish house where locals would gather after services to taste the beer brewed by two church nominated wardens.Evidence for the age of the building can be seen in the graffiti in the snug and lounge bar windows where the names and initials can be traced back through many generations of local families. the pub still maintains many original features such as old oak and linen fold panelling which is said to be one of the finest examples in the country.We have two bars and a restaurant serving traditional delicious English Foods and catering for all tastes and our Sunday Roasts should not be missed. Wines from France Australia and South Africa are available to accompany your meal as well as traditional real ales.We have four lovely cottage style bedrooms situation in a barn conversion in the couryard to the rear of the pub. They are all en suite with bath and shower and following a restfull night's sleep a delicious Full English Breakfast is served in the bar.

Directions to The George Inn Chardstock

From the M5Exit at Junction 25 and take the A358 to Chard. From Chard continue on A358 towards Axminster for appromimately 3 miles to Tytherleigh. Turn Right at the Brown Tourist Sign 'George Inn' and continue for a mile and half and the George Inn will be directly in front of you.From the M3Exit at Junction 8 and take the A303 to Ilminster. At the roundabout take the A358 to Chard. From Chard continue on the A358 towards Axminster for approximately 3 miles to Tytherleigh. Turn Right at the Brown Tourist Sign 'George Inn' and continue for a mile and a half and the George Inn will be directly in front of you.
