The historic grade II listed Prince Rupert Hotel is situated in the very heart of medieval Shrewsbury and just a short stroll from the individual shops and many tourist attractions. Surrounded by narrow cobblestone streets and black and white timbered buildings it provides the perfect base to explore beautiful Shrewsbury. With the heritage of the hotel dating back to the 12th and 15th century character and charm abound with sloping floors exposed Tudor beams and a restored Jacobean staircase. Privately owned for many years by Michael & Diane Matthews the hotel offers a great choice of dining all with a focus on fresh local produce. The Royalist is ideal for a special occasion with an a la carte menu together with a superb wine list. Chambers brasserie is renowned for its traditional British menu at sensible prices and located at the front of the hotel overlooking the gardens of St. Alkmunds square Camellias Tea Rooms offers an extensive menu selection including traditional afternoon tea served on a three tier cake stand. A charming place to relax to the sound of a grand piano. On arrival to the hotel please hand your car keys to Reception where one of our Hall Porters will valet park your vehicle to the Belmont Bank Car Park (our own private car park). This is located approximately 200 metres from the hotel or about 3 minutes by foot. Should you require your vehicle returning at any time please give Reception 30 minutes notice and they will arrange this for you. Alternatively if you would prefer a member of staff will be able to escort you by foot and open the car park security barrier. Directions to Prince Rupert Hotel Shrewsbury

From the M6 - Exit the M6 at junction 10a (junction T8 on the M6 toll) onto the M54 towards Shrewsbury. Follow the M54 until it joins the A5. Follow the A5 then the A49 and head for the town centre. Proceed over the English Bridge and bear right up Wyle Cop. Go past the Lion Hotel on your left. Fifty yards further on on your right a red post box indicates an immediate right turn into Fish Street (caution narrow street - drive over the pavements). Drive up Fish Street to the front of the Prince Rupert Hotel. If you miss the turning into Fish Street continue along the High Street and follow the one-way system around the town and approach the Prince Rupert Hotel from Church Street. From the A5 - Follow the A5 and then the A458 towards Shrewsbury and head from the town centre. Drive over the Welsh Bridge and bear bear along the Smithfield Road (River on your left). Move into the right hand lane prior to the first set of traffic lights. Once over the lights bear right proceeding to the next set of traffic lights at a T-junction (opposite the castle). Drive over the lights and bear immediate right into Castle Street. Follow the one-way system to the top of Castle Street and around to the left into St. Mary s Street. You will see St. Mary s Church on your left (behind the bus stops). Look immediately to the right and after a few yards take the right turn into Church Street (caution - narrow street over pedestrian paving). Drive along Church Street turning right at the bottom to approach the front entrance of the Prince Rupert Hotel. Should you miss the turning into Church Street continue ahead moving into the right hand lane and bear right at the T-junction (opposite the Lion Hotel). Proceed slowly taking an immediate right into Fish Street by the red post box.
