The present hotel was built in 1769 but in other forms a Cross Keys hotel has occupied this site since the earliest days of Scottish coaching inns. From Glasgow take M8 signposted City Centre- Edinburgh Cross Kingston Bridge at Junction 18 continue forward onto M8 Signposted Stirling Carlisle Edinburgh. At Junctioon 15 continue forward onto the M8 continue onto the A8. At junction 6 continue forward onto M8 signposted Edinburgh. At Edinburgh - Hermiston Gate take 3rd exit signposted City Bypass. Immediately keep right then merge onto the A720 at Lothianburn Junction continue forward onto the A720 signposted Berwick upon Tweed A1. At Millerhill Junction branch left then at roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A68. Continue forward then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A68 signposted Jedburgh. Speed cameras along the A68. At Carfraemill roundabout turn left onto the A697 signposted Coldstream. Turn right onto the A6089 signposted Kelso and at crossroad in Gordon continue forward onto the A6089 signposted Kelso. At roundabout go straight on into Kelso town centre and at small roundabout turn right into the cobbled street which leads you onto the square. The hotel is on your right.
