The Royal Oak - Shrewsbury

Coton Hill
Shrewsbury SY1 2DZ

A Warm & Friendly Welcome awaits you at... The Royal Oak Inn. br / br / Picturesque frontage wood panelled bar and separate lounge area. br / br / br / br / The pub has had a chequered history in recent times. It has sometimes been open and sometimes not and sometimes serving real ale and sometimes not! Currently there s a new tenant who will be a familiar face to those who wander round the Shrewsbury Pub circuit. br / br / br / br / Early days (the new tenant only took charge just before Xmas 2016) but a bit of stability is promised As with previous new tenants the pub will initially open all day every day but local support will be needed to continue this. Initially the real ale offering will alternate between Sharp s and Salopian but a second beer (including beers such as Bass) are promised once things settle down (Jan 2017). br / br / br / br / Historic Interest: Note the Courage sign on the frontage a relic of its days as a tied house (the associated golden cockerel on the pub sign is looking a little grey these days but the new management have plans to remedy this). One of the 15 pubs in the Branch area appearing in the 1974 Good Beer Guide the entry was brief but here s what it said! John Smith. Attractive pub with good beer cosy and friendly .
