This hotel s restaurant has quality cuisine using local suppliers where possible which is open to non residents. The restaurant has a wonderful panoramic view of Coniston Old Man.

Directions to Waterhead Hotel Coniston

FROM THE SOUTHLeave junction 36 off the M6 follow signs for Kendal and Windermere (A591/A590). Head towards Ambleside and follow signs for Coniston. see below for instructions from Coniston Village. p FROM THE NORTHFrom junction 40 follow signs for Keswick (A66). After 15 miles on the A66 ( before reaching Keswick) turn left on the B5322 sign posted Thirlmere. Continue on the B5322 until you join the A591 at the head of Thirlmere. Follow the A591 past Grasmere and on to Ambleside. On reaching Ambleside follow the signs for Coniston on the A593 and continue on the A593 for 8 miles. Just before you enter Coniston Village turn left at the sign for Hawkshead/Tarn Hows. At the end of this short stretch turn left over the bridge and the hotel is about 600 yards down the road on the right hand side. Should you miss the Hawkshead/Tarn Hows turning and reach the village centre turn left at the Yewdale Hotel and stay on this road past the Crown Hotel and this brings you to the bridge and then the hotel. p ALTERNATIVE ROUTE From Junction 36 on the M6 follow signs for Kendal/Windermere (A591/A590). After 3 miles fork left on to the A590 and follow signs for Newby Bridge and Barrow. Stay on the A590 for approx 20 minutes until you reach a right turn for Greenodd and Coniston. Turn right onto this road and continue to follow signs for Coniston. In Coniston you will pass a BP Garage and go over a bridge turn right and follow the road past the crown hotel- the B52585 Hawkshead Road. Follow the road over a bridge and you will see the hotel on the right hand side about 600 yards from the village. p if you have any difficulties please phone the hotel on (015394) 41244.
