The area has easy links by road train ferry and plane with the centre of London only an hour or so away making it an easily accessible destination. From Chelmsford: Leave A12 at Colchester Central Junction. Take 2nd exit at roundabout (town centre) on to Avenue of Remembrance. Next roundabout (2nd) take 3rd exit. Next roundabout (3rd) take 3rd exit up Balkerne Hill. Take the first exit of next roundabout (4th) into Southway at the traffic lights turn left into Head Gate at end of Head Street turn right into High Street. The George is on the left-hand side towards the bottom of the High Street. Access to Car Park: After passing the George Hotel take 2nd left into Maidenburgh Street (narrow road) and then turn left and left again into George Street. The hotel car park is on your right at rear of the hotel. Please do not forget to pick up a parking permit at the hotel reception to avoid parking fines. Be aware: Some Sat Navs will attempt to direct you to the hotel via Middleborough South and North Hill this route is now closed and ONLY vehicular access to the hotel and its car park is via Head Street as detailed in directions above.
