in the recent 'Happy at Home' survey by property company Rightmove, Carlisle came top as the happiest place to live. The survey questioned 25,000 people about their level of contentment on everything from size, value and decor of their homes to safety, how friendly neighbours are and qualities of local amenities. Carlisle came top in three of the categories: well-being - feeling relaxed at home; safety - feeling safe in the local community and neighbourliness - friendly neighbours. Carlisle City Council has welcomed the news and the national coverage it's received. Leader of Carlisle City Council, Cllr Mike Mitchelson, said: "We've always known Carlisle's a great place, to live, work and visit. This property survey shows that Carlisle is a friendly city, something which I'd whole heartedly agree with.
