Dome House Boutique B and B
The House was filmed with ‘Grand Designs’ airing on Channel 4 in 2010 & 2011 . Robert and Milla found a plot overlooking Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park and built a house with a domed, grass-covered roof. As part of the sustainable design an enormous spine wall runs through the centre of the house, built from stone dug out of the ground. One wing of the house has three unique boutique guest suites, all with panoramic views of Windermere, each with lounge area, open plan bedroom, dining area and a galley kitchen equipped with coffee maker, toaster, fridge, Smeg hob and dishwasher, along with all the right things to make the perfect breakfast. All rooms come with a complimentary healthy breakfast hamper delivered fresh to your room every day. Each room has a balcony with outstanding views of the lake and the Lake District landscape. The suites have been designed as simple open plan spaces, with an eclectic mix of furniture, both contemporary and vintage to create a comfortable stay. All bathrooms have Villeroy & Boch suites, plus both Rose and Orange Suites have extra deep bathtubs with a rain dance shower. The Green Suite has a bathroom with walk-in shower and rain dance shower and a separate wooden bathtub in the room, screened by a curved feature wooden wall. All are tiled with vibrant colours reflecting the architecture of the house. The Suites are priced accordingly; the Green Suite is the largest suite, with corner sofa and ‘Robin Day’ dining table and chairs. The Orange Room has a larger kitchen area, with chaise longue sofa and a ‘Magnus Olesen’ dining table and chairs. The Rose Room has a feature timber wall, ‘Heals’ furniture and a small Danish dining table with a sofa bed which can be made up for children. From December 2011 there is a private indoor pool available at the house, which can be used by our guests between the hours of 10am and 4 pm. We provide guest robes and slippers so you can change in the comfort of your room
