East Balthangie caravan and Camping Park
Prices at East Balthangie caravan and Camping Park Turriff from £9.50 East Balthangie is ideally situated for exploring Banff and Buchan. The site is located 600 feet above sea level, on a very gentle slope/flat area, facing South East, so has the sun for most of the day. The site is bordered by trees on the Northern side, giving shelter from the occasional breeze. The area dedicated to caravans and tents totals approximately 5 acres, with picnic tables, electric hook up & water points, plus all the usual facilities expected at a traditional, but good site. (see facilities for the full list). The site tries to reinvent the 50's feel, with no long lists of rules, regulations or annoying charges for 'extras'. We cater for visitors who want a quite peaceful site. Pets are very welcome, children under strict control :). For bikers & cyclists, we also have 'the Bike Bothy'. designed for campers too tired to put their tent up.... crash out here for a charge of £12.00 per night and make use of the 2 bunk beds, electric sockets, TV and lights- semi-luxury, compared to your 2 man bivvy! East Balthangie is ideally situated for exploring Banff and Buchan. This area has a wealth of beautiful and interesting places to visit and enjoy. The Castle Trail and Coastal Trail are within easy reach and of course the Distilleries are always popular with our holidaymakers. There are Museums and Art Galleries too and for those of you who would like to explore the countryside there are plenty of walks and country parks to visit. Wildlife is abundant- Deer, pheasants, buzzards, owls are just some of the regular visitors and our herd of nine grazing horses set a very tranquil scene. The games pavilion has a pool table, darts board and table tennis board and TV room for campers. The climate is usually dry and sunny, with a gentle coastal breeze on occasions. The site is very well sheltered by trees and is a real suntrap at times. The East Coast of Scotland has one of the driest climates and our site is no exception, with very low rainfall in comparison to the West of Scotland. Children are welcome on the site, however, we probably have more of a name for people looking for a quite restful site, where their pets have some freedom but and are safe from busy roads, or concerns about livestock worrying. We usually keep at least 10 acres free for dog walking, although it does alter at certain times of year as most parks are used either for horses grazing, silage, or hay making. At night, the sky is superb, with one of the best views in the country of the Milky Way. On occasions, you will also see the Northern Lights. Bear in mind though, that in this part of the world, the sun barely dips below the horizon around June! For visitors travelling long distances, we offer a storage facility- some owners holiday here, leave the van to return home, then pick up their holiday later in the season for onward exploring of the Banff and Buchan Coastline. The coastline is only 5 miles away to the North, where rugged cliffs, vitrified forts and caves, nooks and crannies are found. Here you will find the famous Pennan Bay, where the film Local hero was shot. To the East, beginning at Aberdeen beach, we have over 50 miles of golden sands running all the way North to Fraserburgh. The area has a wealth of beautiful and interesting places to visit and enjoy. The Castle Trail and Coastal Trail are within easy reach and of course the Distilleries are always popular with our holidaymakers. There are Museums and Art Galleries too and for those of you who would like to explore the countryside there are plenty of walks and country parks to visit. Eating out poses no problem here, as choices vary from the local Chippy or Chinese carryout to good Bar Meals and Restaurants with cuisines to suit most tastes. Or you may wish to stay on site, have a barbecue and truly eat out! At East Balthangie we offer friendly efficient service in a relaxing tranquil atmosphere. We aim to please our customers and if anyone has any special requirements we will do our best to meet them. Pets are welcome, but as we have livestock they must be kept under control. A dog walking area, farm walk and pet loo are also available. Horse riding (Learn to ride Western with one of the UK's top trainers Tina Von Gehlen, who's riding centre is just down the road from here!), fishing, shooting, golf and other outdoor pursuits can be arranged locally. See you soon!
