Compston House is a traditional 1890 s Merchant House built of lakeland stone located only a 4 minute walk from Ambleside town centre and 1 mile from Waterhead Pier. Directions to Compston House American Style B&B Ambleside

From the South: Exit the M6 at J36 signed for South Lakes and Kendal. Follow the sign for South Lakes and follow the A591 for Windermere. Stay on the A591 and follow the signs for Keswick and Ambleside Town Centre. You will be on the Ambleside one-way system on Rothay Road and will pass right in front of Compston House as you turn onto Compston Road. From the North: Follow signs to Ambleside Town Centre. You will be on the one-way system and will pass Market Cross on the right and the White Lion pub on the left. Turn right at Greggs Bakery onto Church Street. Compston House is at the bottom of the Church Street on the right. By Rail: Take the rail to Windermere Station and from there you can reach Ambleside by coach or taxi. The coach will drop you off just up the road from us the stop is Ambleside Kelsick Road. (You can see Compston House on your approach into town centre.)
