Cruggleton Castle ruin Garlieston

Description of Cruggleton Castle ruin Garlieston

All that is left of Cruggleton Castle is a stone arch but this forms an attractive focal point along the coastal path behind Rigg Bay in Garlieston. The walk takes you through woodland and beside cliffs and provides look-outs across Wigtown Bay. In spring the bluebells and primroses are delightful.

Who does Cruggleton Castle ruin Garlieston appeals to?

This is a good walk with no need for specailist footwear , only flat shoes or boots needed although it can be occasionally overgrown or muddy in early or late season so if you are wearing shorts you might want to take a stick, and think about wellies after a wet spell. Keep dogs on leads and keep to the footpath as you head up though the woodland or you might lose a dog over the cliffs. Keep hold of small children for the same reason but if you keep to the path it is a very pleasant walk.

Why Visit Cruggleton Castle ruin Garlieston?

A pretty walk with nice views taking about an hour there and back from the car park at Galloway House Gardens.
