Detailed directions from the M5 are below. These give the quickest route which is not the shortest. The total driving time following this route from the M5 is about 1 hours.From the M5 Junction 27 (Tiverton) take the A361 towards Barnstaple. After 27 miles turn right at a roundabout on to the A399 towards Ilfracombe. After 12 miles turn right at Blackmoor Gate on to the A39 towards Lynton. After 4 miles just past Woody Bay Station and Moorlands Guest House on left turn left at Martinhoe Cross towards Martinhoe. After 0.8 miles turn left at Martinhoe Common Cross towards Hunter's Inn. After 0.8 miles go straight ahead at Mannacott Lane Head towards Hunter's Inn. After 0.5 miles descending a 25% gradient with a hairpin bend turn right at the National Trust sign marked Private Road to Heddon's Gate and Martinhoe Cleave. After 0.2 miles bear right at the sign to Heddon's Gate. The hotel is a further 0.1 miles.
