A delightful Edwardian Residence offering bed and breakfast accommodation. Set in an enviable position within lush gardens and offering a tranquil environment. We are within a few minutes walk of Cockington Village and Country Park less than 100 metres to the sea front and within walking distance of Torquay Centre with its Marina Shops Conference Centre Theatre and Railway Station. Delicious home cooked breakfasts using superior ingredients from local suppliers where possible together with a selection of cereals breads fruit and yoghurts etc. Situated in the peaceful surroundings of Cockington Valley with its historical thatched village but just 150 yards from Livermead beach and providing a superb base for enjoying Torbay. The Charterhouse offers a heated outdoor swimming pool from May to September large private car park and a very warm welcome. Our delightful gardens are an ideal place to sit and enjoy a summer's evening with a glass of wine and although we are not licensed to sell alcohol our guests are more than welcome to provide their own favourite tipple. All rooms are shower en-suite and have colour TV and teacoffee making facilities. Children most welcome and we also have two garden rooms which are ideal for guests with their pets by prior arrangement only. Please note that dogs are not allowed in any other part of the hotel. Directions to The Charterhouse Torquay

At the end of the M5 continue along the A38A380 towards Plymouth. At the Shell garage where the A38 and A380 fork take the left-hand lane sign-posted A380 Torquay. Keep on this road for approximately thirteen and a half miles until reaching a large roundabout near to the Coventry Farm Trading Estate. Keep straight on the A3022 towards Torquay ignoring the A380 ring road which goes off to the right. Keep straight on the A3022 through three sets of traffic lights. At the fourth set of traffic lights with CURRYS on the left hand side continue through two more sets of traffic lights which are close together at which time the road widens into two lanes with the outside lane sign-posted Harbour and Seafront. Take this lane and pass through the traffic lights by the Halford Superstore and Tor Station into Avenue Road. Keep straight on all the way to the seafront and at the seafront turn right towards Paignton. Take the turning on the right hand side directly after the Livermead Hotel sign-posted for Cockington. The entrance to The Charterhouse Torquay is approximately 75 yards after passing under the railway line.
