The Goathland Hotel Goathland

The Goathland Hotel, The Goathland Hotel, Goathland, YO22 5LY

Rooms from £95

The Goathland Hotel is run by Keith and Jean Richardson and their staff who produce both good food and drink in a friendly atmosphere to which guests constantly return. The hotel is well known locally and internationally as the ' AIDENSFIELD ARMS ' in Yorkshire Televisions very popular ' HEARTBEAT ' series. We have become world famous by sheer accident but for the very reasons Yorkshire Television chose us we like to think that the very best of an English village pub has been delivered to an international audience. Our belief is that many come because of the fictional Aidensfield but return for the spirit that is Goathland. Your hosts Jean and Keith Richardson have enjoyed Goathland life at the pub since May 1985. They moved here after successfully running a traditional London Pub. Keith is the Landlord and he takes pride that his beers are some of the best kept locally. His experience in the trade and as a unique host has been rewarded as a Fellow of the British Institute of Inn keeping. Jean captains our efficiently run kitchen. Her menus are a response to popular customer demand. Traditional good pub food served in times sympathetic to those wanting catching the next steam train. Always looking for fresh new ideas for our special boards 'something to tempt everyone'. They run the pub and hotel with a professional and friendly team of staff. The community spirit that is a local pub is carried forward with extensive charity fund raising efforts for our success here we have to thank the generosity of our customers. To date over 12 charities have substantially benefited. Thinking globally as well as locally we are always looking for new ways to be environmentally responsible both front and back of house while retaining quality. The hotel has eight ensuite bedrooms they all have individual characteristics and views of our wonderful moors and timeless village. Our rooms reflect the traditional building and retain all the charm and character of yesteryear. The bar is warm and welcoming with traditional d‚cor and a real log fire. Well known as the 'Aidensfield Arms' as depicted in Yorkshire Televisions popular series 'Heartbeat' where they filmed all their 'local pub' scenes for the first four years. Come and see the Aidensfield setting but be charmed by our unspoilt traditional bar and hotel. The Lounge is plush cozy and relaxing this is adjacent to our traditional bar. Sit in the bay window and watch the world go by or be entertained by the tropical fish tank and its colourful occupants. Families are very welcome we have two large family rooms equipped with some traditional games and a fish tank. Outdoor seating on the front and to the back a spacious beer garden with views over the moors and village cricket pitch. We welcome walkers cyclists bikers coach parties and dogs accompanied by owners on a short leash! Essentially we offer the convenience of a small hotel but with a big personality.
