Directions to The Rose and Crown BARNARD CASTLE

From Barnard Castle either take B6277 at the bottom of the town by the river (cross bridge out of town and turn right) OR turn left onto B6278 at top of the town (past GlaxoWellcome factory); after approx 5 miles turn left at Eggleston onto B6281 down over bridge and turn left at top of hill following road into Romaldkirk village. From North or south on A1 exit at Scotch Corner and head West on A66 towards BroughPenrith. Ignore the first turning to Barnard Castle (at Greta Bridge) but take second turning right onto B6277. At traffic lights by the bridge White Swan Pub continue straight ahead on B6277 passing through Lartington Cotherstone and then into Romaldkirk village. The hotel is on the right on the middle green. From South on M6; Exit at junction 38 (Tebay) and follow A685 through Kirkby Stephen to Brough. At Brough turn right under bridge onto A66 and continue east to Bowes. Exit onto A67 to Barnard Castle. Turn immediately left again onto a minor road signposted to Cotherstone. Continue on this road over Cotherstone moor to village. Turn left at T-Junction and continue through village and on to Romaldkirk (next village). From the North on M6; Exit at junction 40 (Penrith) and head East on A66 past Appleby-in-Westmorland Brough and then follow directions as above when approaching Bowes.
