The Usk was established in the 1840s at the time of the Brecon to Merthyr Railway. It has an enviable position on the edge of the village opposite the former railway station and yard. Imagine if you can how the patrons of the Inn would have felt when the Wild Run of 1878 spilled the Locomotive Hercules onto Station Road. br / br / br / br / The Brecon to Monmouthshire canal runs along the 300 ft contour through the centre of the village about a quarter of a mile from the Inn in some instances at roof level. br / br / br / br / The Usk Inn has been transformed from an ordinary village pub into a country inn and restaurant with rooms of excellence. The Usk has been completely refurbished in sympathetic style returning to it the atmosphere and ambience of a traditional village inn. Each bedroom carries the name of a bird often found along the banks of the River Usk - Kingfisher Dipper Heron etc. The bedrooms are decorated individually with charming style and furnished with locally made pine furniture. It s close to the heart of the Beacons and also handy for South and Mid Wales. Guests can go walking fishing or cruising the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal which flows through Talybont.

M4 (Junction 24) - Road: From the Severn Bridge and the South. Follow the M4 taking exit 24 onto the A449 heading to Raglan/Monmouth. Join the A40 at Raglan heading West towards Brecon via Abergavenny.
