Greyhound Inn - Dorchester

26 High St Sydling St Nicholas
Dorchester DT2 9PD

A great meal and a great sleep... local food and proper pillows that s what we do at the Greyhound. It s a centuries old coaching inn set in an ancient Thomas Hardy village so pretty it takes your breath away. br / br / br / br / Think of soft rounded chalk hills watercress farms thatched cottages and a trout stream running through then double it and you get Sydling St Nicholas. Add in crisp white sheets fluffy towels free wi-fi everywhere and officially the best pub food in Dorset (two Good Pub Guide Awards) and you get the perfect English pub with rooms. We don t call it a boutique pub with rooms but others have so we re not complaining. br / br / br / br / Our rooms come in two sizes and two prices. The larger doubles are £99 per night for the room including breakfast while the standard doubles are £89 per night for the room inclusive of breakfast. br / br / br / br / The rooms have all been refurbished using Dorset s own Farrow and Ball with liberal use of our new favourite colour (and name) Mizzle! They all have dimmable lighting French beds or divans crisp cotton sheets and proper duvets and pillows. br / br / br / br / The bathrooms have either baths or showers or both and you ll find great smelly things from Arran Aromatics to use during your stay. For entertainment watch your Sony flat screen or slip in a dvd from our library at the bar. br / br / br / br / Our strength has been in fish with our chef ordering the night before after a phone call to the quaysides in Weymouth and Bridport on the Jurassic Coast just 20 minutes away. That s not to say our steaks aren t the best in Dorset and we usually have game when in season with venison and wild boar br / br / (yes running free in neighboring Devon) usually available. br / br / br / br / Please note check in times 14:00 - 15:00 and after 17:00
