Student NUS Discount 10% The Royal Oak House is a Grade II listed building situated in the very heart of the tranquil village of Bridestowe. From the Lydford and Clovelly rooms we have beautiful views of Sourton Tor on Dartmoor and the Meldon overlooks the historic church and main street through the village. The rear garden is designer landscaped and has a Pergola for sitting out in warm summer evenings. Separately, on the other side of the garden is a small seated area for those who wish to smoke. Originally an Inn built in 1714, the Royal Oak House retains many of its original features and also provides a log fired snug and a private games room with a pool table and dart board for the exclusive use by our guests There are a large number of excellent pubs and exquisite restaurants in the immediate vicinity for which contact details can be found on our website. We are ideally placed midway on the Route 27 Cycle route from Ilfracombe to Plymouth for those who want to stop over. We can also arrange for the hire of cycles and accessories to be delivered and collected from the premises at your convenience and stored in a secure bike shed. The Royal Oak house serves as an ideal base for walkers. We are situated directly on a number of walks including: the Castle to Castle walk from Launceston to Okehampton, many of the Dartmooor routes and close by is the Granite Way, Lydford Gorge, Meldon Reservoir, the Bridestowe Village Trail and many more. There are also organised guided walks which are advertised through the Tourist Information Centre in Okehampton. We are surrounded by castles, historic houses and interesting places to visit as well as lakes and reservoirs offering fishing, boating and water sports. There are also local facilities for those who wish to go horse riding. We serve a full Devon English Breakfast using only local free range produce and complemented by a wide selection of fruit and cereals.
