There are visitor centres at each of these trails with facilities for parking and bike hire and refreshments available. Cruggleton Castle ruin - All that is left of Cruggleton Castle is a stone arch but this forms an attractive focal point along the coastal path behind Rigg Bay in Garlieston. The walk takes you through woodland and beside cliffs and provides look-outs across Wigtown Bay. In spring the bluebells and primroses are delightful.

Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park - The Galloway Forest Park was awarded Dark Skies Park Status in November 2010 because there is no light pollution and it is therefore considered one of the darkest skies in UK and Europe thereby providing a fabulous backdrop for viewing thousands of stars and the planets in our solar system many with a naked eye.

Galloway House Gardens - Galloway House Gardens are open to the public between March and October. Thes season starts with a carpet of snowdrops and gradually the rhododendron and azalea collection bursts into life providing good colour between April and June. THe arboretum offers a lovely shady walk down to the shore of Rigg Bay. Additional woodland paths can be accessed joining up with the shore path leading from the village of Garlieston linking Garlieston Bay with Rigg Bay and around the back of the beach to the Cruggleton Castle ruin.

Rigg Bay - Rigg Bay is a tree lined sandy beach suitable for swimming and paddling There are rock pools for children to enjoy paddling exploring sea life and for walkers there is a pretty coastal walk to the village of Garlieston with village shop, pub and bowling green in one direction or pretty woodland path up to the ruin of Cruggleton Castle and view across to the Cumbrian hills. Foragers can collect mussels off the rocks and mackerel, sea bass and mullet can be caught for tea.
