Chetcombe House is an elegant and cosy country house set in an acre of lovely gardens and located just a few minutes' walking distance from the centre of the charming Wiltshire town of Mere. It is the home of Sandra Rose and Jerry Meyer who do everything possible to ensure guests have an enjoyable and relaxing stay beginning with a warm and friendly welcome.The house provides an excellent standard of accommodation with 5 en-suite bedrooms (1 x family room 3 x double rooms and 1 x twin room) all of which have television and teacoffee making facilities. Wi-Fi broadband internet access is available throughout the house. Hospitality trays include homemade cookies and cakes and handmade toiletries are provided in the bathrooms. The gardens face south giving wonderful views to Shaftesbury and the Blackmore Vale an area made famous in the novels of Thomas Hardy.The town of Mere dates back to Saxon times and has been part of the Duchy of Cornwall for centuries. Richard Earl of Cornwall brother of King Henry III built a castle in the town in the first half of the 13th century the castle no longer exists but the site now provides a splendid viewpoint across the beautiful surrounding countryside. Mere offers some lovely walks and is on the route of the Wiltshire cycle way. Much of the area around the town is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Facilities are available for walkers and cyclists such as wet weather clothesboot drying facilities lockable storage for cycles. Walkingcycling maps and guides are available to guests. In addition wholesome and tasty packed lunches can also be provided.

Directions to Chetcombe House BB Warminster

Chetcombe House is situated exactly half a mile (a ten-minute walk) north of the centre of Mere. From the east:Driving westward on the A303 take the Mere exit and the house is found almost immediately on the left (it is clearly marked by a sign at the end of the drive). From the west:Take the A303 exit for Mere and Stourhead then follow the signs into Mere (this is a drive of only about 2 miles). Pass the clock tower (it will be on your right) in the centre of the village and continue half a mile. Pass the fire and police station (on your left) and take the first turning on the right into Chetcombe Road which is clearly marked. The house is the 5th on your right hand side and has ample parking space in front.
