Nestling in the heart of the Wasdale valley The Screes Inn is a family run establishment with beautiful views of the surrounding fells situated only a short walk away from Britains favorite view and Wastwater the deepest lake in England. Nether Wasdale not only provides an ideal base to explore the high fells but also offers numorous lowland walks. Wasdales many bridleways offer an excellent oppertunity for mountain biking varying from leisurely outings to the most demanding trails The Screes Inn has a large comfortable bar area with a wood burning stove roaring away during the Autumn and Winter months. We serve a good choice of pub food and real ale and also a large choice of malt whiskies. We currently have five bedrooms all comfortable with en-suite facilities. The Inn also has a traditional lakeland bar and seperate dining room. The Screes Inn offers a comfortable and relaxing stay good wholesome homemade food and a warm welcome. Directions to The Screes SEASCALE

From the South: leave the M6 at Junction 36. Follow the A590 and then the A595 signposted to Whitehaven and Workington. Five miles after Holmrook turn right into Gosforth (signposted Gosforth Eskdale and Wasdale).From the North: Leave the M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith) and take the A66 west toward Workington then A595 to Whitehaven and Egremont. Five miles after Holmrook turn right into Gosforth (signposted Gosforth Eskdale and Wasdale). Go through Gosforth do not turn off at any point. After a few miles on the narrow windy roads you will see Nether Wasdale sign posted turn right and your nearly there! After a mile or so you will see the Screes Inn on the left hand side.
