The whole house has been sympathetically and tastefully converted from the school it once was with the comfort of the guests in mind.There are many attractive walks directly from the Guest House for all abilities from ambles to strenuous hill walking. We have maps and books available for guests' use and are only too happy to offer advice if required.

Directions to Muncaster Country Guest House Ravenglass

From the NorthCome through Carlisle and continue west on the A595 sign-posted Workington. Follow the A595 past Whitehaven Egremont and Gosforth. After Holmbrook you will pass a large Texaco filling station on the right. We are just two miles beyond this. Do not turn into Ravenglass but bear left on the A595. We are just beyond the Muncaster Castle car park on the left.Allow 70 - 80 minutes from Carlisle. From the SouthLeave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A590 signs to Barrow. Don't miss the turn to the left about 3 miles along the dual carriageway to Kendal.Continue along the A590 to Newby Bridge after which there are three short stretches of dual carriageway. On the third stretch of dual carriageway east of Newby Bridge there is a turn off to the right (sign-posted Workington and Whitehaven). Turn off here onto the A5092 and follow the road to Broughton in Furness and then on to the West. Immediately west of Broughton in Furness you will come to a stone bridge with a sharp S bend and traffic lights. Cross the bridge and follow the main road Muncaster is 12 miles.You will cross the stone humpback bridge over the River Esk about one mile before you reach us. We are about a quarter mile beyond the Muncaster B and BCoach entrance to Muncaster Castle. The Guest House is on the right hand side of the road and has red signs at the entrance which is just opposite the BT phone box.Allow 70 - 80 minutes from the M6. From the EastThe route from the East is more complicated.If you are in Keswick then come via Cockermouth and Egremont onto then A595 and follow the route from the North.From Ambleside the normal way is via Coniston onto the A595 and then follow the route from the South. If you are feeling adventurous then coming via the Hardknott and Wrynose Pass is a scenic option but it is single track road and very tortuous. From Bowness and Windermere the best way is via Newby Bridge and then follow the route from the South.All the routes take about 60mins.
