Close by is the Kennet & Avon Canal and the astonishing Caen Hill Locks are within walking distance as are the attractions and facilities of Devizes. A walk in the other direction takes you up onto Roundway Down on the edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here you can find the Devizes Millennium White Horse (one of 8 horses cut into the Wiltshire Downs) the site of the Battle of Roundway (1643) and Oliver s Castle hill fort. br / br / br / br / Whether you are touring walking cycling or on business you are assured of a very warm welcome and a comfortable stay. The property has 3 rooms with king sized beds 1 triple luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets large fluffy towels and bathrobes with good sized ensuite facilities. br / br / br / br / There is a flat screen colour TV with DVD player in each room silent fridge with fresh milk drink making facilities & snacks. Two of the rooms have a balcony overlooking the garden and countryside. In addition the exclusive guest lounge contains local information books and maps etc as well as novels and games and free Wi-Fi. Directions to Avalon Lodge B&B Devizes

M4 East/London - Road: If coming from London direction heading west on the M4 exit at Hungerford and follow the A4 towards Bath. After you have passed through Marlborough at the roundabout with the A361 turn left towards Devizes. Drive through Devizes and as you exit the town take the right fork onto the A342 towards Chippenham. We are situated on the edge of the village of Rowde (before main village) on the left hand side of road. br/ br/ M4 West/Bristol - Road: From M4 West If you are travelling from the Bristol area heading east on the M4 exit at Junction 17 for Chippenham. Follow A4 signs towards Calne and at Pewsham just past the Lysley Arms Public House turn right signposted Devizes and follow the A342. We are just after the village of Rowde after the end of village speed limit and past the sign for the Rowdey Cow Farm Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour (delicious!) on the right hand side. br/ br/ Chippenham Station - Train: From Chippenham train station bus route 33 comes to Devizes and stops just outside our door. For your best routes using public transport try the very comprehensive Traveline which includes train bus and coach information. We can also help with advice and timetables during your stay. br/ br/ Swindon Station - Train: There are a number of train stations within the county with bus services linking to Devizes. Swindon has the most comprehensive rail service locally and there is a regular bus service with the 49 coming to Devizes. br/ br/ Devizes - Bus: Bus route 33 or X33 comes to Devizes from Chippenham (or vice versa) and stops just outside our door.
