Abbey Guest House is a family-run quiet 4 star Gold rated guest house. It offers immaculately furnished and decorated en-suite rooms and prides itself on its high level of service and standard of accommodation. A lift was installed in September 2014 thereby ensuring that the whole house is accessible to all. br / br / br / br / Breakfast is usually served around 1 or 2 large family style breakfast tables one of which overlooks the rear garden so enabling guests to occasionally watch the local birdlife also partaking of breakfast. Any guest wishing to opt out of the family approach is asked to let Terry know when they check in so that they can be accommodated at a 3rd separate table that is normally reserved for guests using the self-serve facilities. br / br / br / br / The guest house is situated in the peaceful village of Abingdon just off the A34 6 miles from the historic city of Oxford famous for its sights colleges and museums. There are two local pubs within 400 yards of the guest house that both supply good quality food for evening meals. Alternatively a 10-15-minute walk into the centre of town gives visitors access to numerous other restaurants and pubs. br / br / br / br / The location provides excellent transport links to Culham Didcot Marcham and Oxford. Thames Path Walkers - Abingdon Bridge - Road: For anyone requiring directions to reach the Abbey Guest House on foot - especially those walking the Thames Path - we can provide a detailed set of directions. br/ br/ Oxford Town Centre and/or Railway Station - Bus: Take the X2 X3 or X13 bus. After leaving the A34 the bus will travel up hill turn left at the top of the road then proceed to a roundabout where it will go straight across. Just after the roundabout there is a bus stop. Once past that stop ring the bell so that the bus stops at the next stop ( South Avenue ) for you to get off (buses will not stop unless there is a demand). Once off the bus cross over the road and walk in the same direction the bus was travelling to reach No 136. br/ br/ Oxford Railway Station - Road: At traffic signals turn right and go along the Botley Road. At traffic signals turn right (signposted Ring road Swindon). At Botley Interchange roundabout take the 1st exit then merge onto A34 Southern By Pass Road (signposted Newbury M4). At Abingdon North Junction branch left then at T-junction turn left onto the A4183. At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Oxford Road (signposted Town Centre). Go past speed camera. Turn right onto Wheatcroft Close. At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Oxford Road - A4183 (signposted Town Centre) Entering Abingdon - BE AWARE there is an active speed camera on this stretch of road about 150 yards before the turning into Wheatcroft Close. Turn right onto Wheatcroft Close. Turn left onto Oxford Road.
