The Hotel is located in Borrowdale just outside Keswick in Cumbria. It is roughly a 35 minute drive from the town of Penrith and Junction 40 off the M6 and offers plenty of free on-site parking. Just under an hour s drive away is the city of Carlisle which offers excellent transport links to the rest of the country as well as a regular train service to Penrith. There is also a bus that stops 200 yards away from the Hotel which can take guests to Keswick. For those flying in Newcastle Airport is approximately a 2 hour drive away. The Hotel is located in the heart of the Lake District and is the perfect base from which to explore the area. Whether it s a brief relaxed stroll or a more challenging hike the varied landscape of rolling hills imposing mountains deep lakes winding rivers and secluded villages offers something for everyone to enjoy. Indeed there are plenty of scenic walks that start right on the Hotel s doorstep including a footpath at the bottom of the garden that leads to Stonethwaite and Grasmere in one direction and Watendlath in the other. Just a short distance away is the spectacular Derwent Water where visitors can embark on a boat trip across the lake. It is also home to Keswick s Theatre By The Lake one of the most beautifully located theatres in the country. Directions to Hazel Bank Country House KESWICK

Travelling west from Penrith exit the M6 at Junction 40 and follow the A66 towards Keswick. Before you reach Keswick head left on to Penrith Road (A591) and continue on to the A5271. At Keswick turn left on to Station Street then take the second left onto St John s Street and the first right onto Derwent Street before finally turning left onto Borrowdale Road (B5289). Continue south for 6 miles towards Borrowdale. Just before arriving in the village of Rosthwaite the Hotel will be signposted on the left just after crossing the river next to the bus stop.
