Aynsome Manor is situated in the beautiful Vale of Cartmel. It was once the residence of a descendant of the Earl of Pembroke founder of the 12th century Priory which the hotel overlooks in this picturesque village. The Varley family have managed Aynsome Manor since 1981 creating an elegant comfortable and tranquil atmosphere maintaining period features throughout the building part of which date back to 1512 although the main house is a mere pup at 1740 with later additions in 1840 such as the large glass cupola. The Georgian dining room with its ornate tongue and ball ceiling old portraits and dark panelling offers AA Red Rosette Cuisine. The 12 bedrooms built mainly around the courtyard offer high levels of amenities and comfort. Two are in a separate cottage a few paces across the courtyard. Aynsome is the perfect holiday location from which to explore the Southern Lake District Peninsulas Morecambe Bay or when the weather is not so kind to come and relax by the log fires in one of the two comfortable lounges. Holker Hall Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are all situated nearby.

LEAVE M6 MOTORWAY AT JUNCTION 36. FOLLOW A590 ALL THE WAY SIGNPOSTED FOR BARROW IN FURNESS. THIS ROAD BEARS OFF TO THE LEFT AFTER THREE MILES. WE ARE APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES FROM THE MOTORWAY. AFTER YOU PASS A LONG STEEP HILL AT LINDALE LOOK OUT FOR THE CARTMEL TURNING ON THE LEFT. KEEP FOLLOWING SIGNS FOR CARTMEL PRIORY TURNING LEFT AT T JUNCTIONS. 1/2 MILE BEFORE REACHING CARTMEL VILLAGE LOOK OUT FOR THE SIGN IN THE FIELD ON YOUR RIGHT. GO DOWN LANE TO THE BOTTOM HOTEL ON YOUR RIGHT AS YOU TURN CORNER. IF COMING FROM CARTMEL HAVE THE SPAR SHOP ON YOUR LEFT AND HEAD AWAY FROM CARTMEL GO PAST THE PRIMARY SCHOOL ON YOUR LEFT AND PAST SOME FIELDS YOU WILL SEE A SMALL SIGN ON A FENCE TURN LEFT HERE AND FOLLOW LANE. YOU WILL SEE AYNSOME MANOR IN FRONT OF YOU.
