It was aquired in the 1600 s by Sir Francis Drake as part of the Buckland Abbey estate and was used as a maltings where grain was steeped and prepared for brewing. However it has always been a hostelry welcoming travellers and visitors ever since. br / br / The accommodation retains features from the original building with exposed oak timbers and vaulted ceilings throughout creating a delightfully bright and airy space. Luxurious furnishings and accessories reflect proprietor Mandy s attention to detail. br / br / The accommodation is accessed from the ground floor via the original narrow winding staircase into which you enter the open plan living area. The accommodation further encompasses two double bedrooms and bathroom with bath and fixed overhead shower. br / br / The Inn under the ownership of Mandy and her competent smiling team is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and home cooked food. Locally sourced fresh produce is used on the regular menu and the daily specials board. br / br / Enjoy the south facing sunny garden in the summer and woodburners in the Bars in the winter months fine real ales and our interesting selection of wines. br / br / Breakfast makes the most of our own pork sausages and bacon and local free range eggs as well as other lovely produce.
