Bracken House formerly known as The Old Rectory is situated on the edge of the popular North Devon village of Bratton Fleming. It is a high quality bed and breakfast with a 5 rating from the AA which was awarded in March 2016. It is within easy driving distance of the spectacular coast with Putsborough our favourite beach being about 40 minutes away. Exmoor (about 3 miles away) and many other local attractions including National Trust properties (Arlington Court) gardens at RHS Rosemoor Castle Hill and Marwood are also within easy reach. There are lovely views from the house and gardens over the lovely unspoilt North Devon countryside and also down to Hartland Point in the distance. br / br / br / br / We have four ensuite bedrooms three doubles on the first floor one and one on the ground floor. The main premium room is Wodehouse which has views to the front and side of the house and also has a four poster bed with en-suite bathroom and a separate shower and the others have views to Hartland Point in the distance (Wooster) and the other (Jeeves) looks over the garden and surrounding countryside. Wooster can be made up as a twin if preferred. Anatole is a double bedroom on the ground floor and would be suitable for guests who have difficulty in climbing stairs and the doors have been widened to accommodate wheelchairs users. It has an en-suite bathroom with shower over. br / br / br / br / The historic towns of Barnstaple and South Molton are 8 and 12 miles respectively to the south and Exmoor National Park is 3 miles to the east. The stunning coast line of North Devon with its cliff paths and sandy beaches are a short drive away. Nearby villages include Goodleigh Brayford Stoke Rivers Shirwell East and West Buckland as well as the towns of Barnstaple Woolacombe Ilfracombe and South Molton. br / br / br / br / We have named the rooms after characters in P G Wodehouse s novels as his uncle was Rector here from 1875 to 1913 and it is known that he stayed in this house

Directions to Bracken House Barnstaple

Barnstaple - Road: Take the road from Barnstaple to Bratton Fleming and continue until the village. Proceed past the shop and the Pub and KEEP ON the road until it narrows and a sign will be seen on the right hand side of the road saying Bracken House . Turn right and follow the signs down to the house which is at the bottom of the drive. Sat Nav s say to turn right up Old Rectory Lane - DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD as it is not made up! br/ br/ South Molton - Road: From South Molton take the A399 towards Ilfracombe. Follow the road through Brayford and continue up the long hill and after a sharp right hand bend in the road turn left after 100m towards Bratton Fleming. Continue on this road until the village is reached. Turn left into the village and after about 400m turn left opposite the Post Office sign and Baptist Chapel and proceed down the concrete drive bearing right by the red and black post and right again at the next fork down to the house br/ br/ Barnstaple - Bus: From the Bus Station in Branstaple take the Bus to Lynton and it will stop in the village by the Pub. Walk up the hill crossing into Old Rectory Lane (this is not a made up road and pass the cottages on the left and then turn right onto the concrete drive and walk down to the house at the bottom.
