The Rivendell was built in 1924 and is totally unique and idyllic in the area. The architect who designed it was one of six students who studied directly under Charles Rennie Mackintosh at Glasgow school of art and his influence is obvious throughout. The house was of private residence of the Penman family who prospered locally as early exponents of the motor trade. The house was then purchased in 2002 by its current owner Bruce Harper and underwent a total renovation maintaining the original features throughout.
