The Anchor Hotel is a building steeped in history and it has been a Hotel in various guises for many years. Originating as a Jacobite Cross relating to medieval settlementsthe Roman occupation and Jacobite revolutions the Hotel was also once a court house complete with hanging facilities outside in what is now the car park and garden. br / br / The hotel rises out of the river Tyne enjoying a perfect position for direct access to the river and lovely views. The salmon leap over the weir and sandy beaches and swimming holes are also at this point. Carlisle - Road: A69 from the west. Turn left where signposted for Haydon bridge. Follow the road through the village and take the first turning on the right after the birdge The hotel is located on the end of the old bridge rising out of the river br/ br/ newcastle - Road: A69 from the east. Turn right where the sign is posted for Haydon Bridge. Take the first left. The hotel is located on the end of the old bridge rising out of the river br/ br/ carlisle - Train: dismount at Haydon straight down Church street and you will see the Hotel on the end of the old bridge rising out of the river. (Please check the tain stops at Haydon Bridge - not all do!) br/ br/ Newcastle - Train: dismount at Haydon Bridge. Straight down church street and you will see the Hotel located on the end of the old bridge rising out of the river.
