The Old Deanery Hotel and Restaurant is a lovely old building situated in its own private grounds in the shadow of the beautiful Cathedral in Ripon yet only a few minutes walk from the market square centre of this delightful small city in North Yorkshire! The Old Deanery dates from 1625 but there have been many alterations over the years and this grade 2 red star listed building was refurbished as a hotel in 2003. It has a unique atmosphere where the old and the new blend in a relaxed and welcoming way. br / br / br / br / There is a walled courtyard parking area at the front and a large garden to explore at the back where guests can enjoy drinks and meals in the warmer months. There are 3 restaurant rooms and a comfortable and stylish bar lounge on the ground floor with a log fire in winter. The food served is excellent prepared from locally sourced good quality ingredients and well presented - a place to celebrate a birthday anniversary or wedding or simply to enjoy a night away. We welcome children and dogs so celebrating can be as inclusive as you wish! Any of the restaurant rooms may be hired for exclusive use: the Cathedral dining room overlooks the Cathedral and leads into the Dean s dining room which has a garden view. The Garden room restaurant is a delightful room from breakfast to dinner for relaxed meals and access to the garden terrace. br / br / br / br / On the first floor which is reached by the superb 17th Century oak staircase there are 6 individually designed bedrooms with high ceilings shutters at the windows and either a Cathedral or garden view. A further narrower flight of stairs takes us to the second floor where there are 5 more ensuite bedrooms with sloping beamed ceilings and smaller windows but also with a view over the garden or Cathedral. Yes you may well hear the chimes of the Cathedral clock or perhaps the bell ringers practising on Wednesdays from 7 till 9pm but it really does add to the charm of the place.

Directions to The Old Deanery Hotel Ripon

Harrogate - Road: From Harrogate follow the A61 towards the centre of Ripon and at the first roundabout go straight on following Harrogate Road. Follow the road along and turn right at the crossroads following the signs for the Cathedral. When you come to the roundabout turn left (first exit) onto Minster Road and pass the Cathedral. We are on the left hand side opposite the Cathedral. br/ br/ A1 - Road: From the A1 or from the north take the A61 exit. Go straight on at the first roundabout you come to (signposted for A61). Turn right at the next roundabout onto Rotary Way. Turn left at Stonebridgegate and follow St Mary s Gate which curves to the right into Minster road and we are the second open gateway on the right hand side behind the tall walls.
