The Ham and Cheese dates back to 1907 and before this time was one of the first farm shops in the country. Local farmers used to bring their produce to sell here and it is believed that the inn takes its unique name from this time. We are situated in the quiet village of Scagglethorpe 2miles from the market town of Malton. We are just off the A64 18 miles either way to either York or Scarborough. br / br / br / br / The Inn is proud of its reputation for good quality home cooked food real ales and log fire. See displays showing how Roman centurions and civillians lived or visit the actual site of Derventio in Orchard Fields. A1 - North - Road: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 br/ br/ A1 South - Road: Take the A1M to Junction 44 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue past York and eventually you will pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard. br/ br/ Malton - Road: Turn right from A64 into village of Scagglethorpe and we are right on the left. br/ br/ Scarborough - Road: Coming from Scarborough look for sign to Scagglethorpe and turn left. We are right on the left.
