This homely former pub sits nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Quantock Hills and the rolling Brendons. We are about 7 miles north west of Taunton and 17 miles from Minehead. We offer friendly well furnished en suite bedrooms with private facilities hairdryer complimentary biscuits refilled on a daily basis! Soft white towels flat screen tv with freeview channels. We give our guests a hearty locally sourced Somerset breakfast. We welcome well behaved pets too. We have free wi-fi and look forward to seeing you. We are just a few miles from Exmoor Lynton and Lynmouth a little bit farther. There are some beautiful walks with incredible scenery. Also perfect for cyclists and ramblers. We provide a safe secured lockup for bicycles. There are some very interesting museums close by the amazing Bakelite museum in Williton old school and farming museum in Allerford. We are also just under a mile from the wonderful West Somerset Railway and Crowcombe Heathfield is our nearest station although Bishops Lydeard is not far and has ample free parking. Enjoy a nostalgic trip on an old steam train relaxing with a locally brewed pint of beer or cider or cup of tea and enjoy travelling on the way to Minehead and Bishops Lydeard.

Directions to The Old Stags Head Taunton

From the M5 come off at Junction 25 follow signs for Minehead through Taunton onto the A358. We are about 7 miles from Taunton. Take the A358 go past the turning for Bishops Lydeard keep going on the road it then goes underneath the West Somerset Railway bridges twice then half a mile after the second bridge the road takes a left bend and then approximately 500 yards you will see a sign B&B on your left and we are immediately after the building on the left hand side. There is a bus layby if you whizz past so you can reverse back again!! People often use this as the braking lane!
