Situated on the waterfront in Kirkwall s old town The Ola as it is known locally is a friendly hotel with a range of recently upgraded accommodation and two lively bars. We serve great pub food from 12 noon daily and are a popular local venue for music and nights out. The recently refurbished accommodation includes single double family and twin rooms as well as a self-catering loft suite for families and longer term visitors. All rooms are non-smoking and have digital TV Ipod dock direct dial phones and free WIFI. Our Superior rooms at the front of the hotel have fantastic views of the harbour and beyond to the outer isles.

Kirkwall is the main transport and distribution hub. Ferries travel to and from the Northern Isles from the busy harbour and there are short flights to many of the islands from the airport just 10 minutes out of town as well as daily flights to Aberdeen Inverness Edinburgh and Glasgow. The islands of Hoy and Flotta which lie to the south of Mainland are reached by boat from Houton 20 minutes drive from Kirkwall.
