Blaen-nant-y-groes is a former hill farm which comprises a farm-house with three adjoining stone cottages a barn and stables all set in fifteen acres of upland grazing and woodland. Situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park the town of Aberdare has a variety of shops as well as a covered market. Tesco and Asda supermarkets are both 5 minutes away. Swansea and the Gower coast are 45 minutes drive. Cardiff the Millenium Centre and Stadium are 30 minutes drive and both Cwmbach and Aberdare railway stations are 5 minutes away with trains every 30 minutes to the capital. The market town of Brecon with its international jazz festival agricultural and farmers market and antique shops is 30 minutes away.

Directions to Tunnel Cottages Aberdare

From the North & Midlands M5 junc 8 onto M50 M50 ends at Ross-on-Wye - take A40 About 5 miles past Monmouth take the turn off for Abergavenny This is still the A40. At Abergavenny take the A465 to Merthyr. Stay on the A465 past Merthyr towards Neath/Swansea Go across the A 470 (Brecon) roundabout Up the hill (about 1 mile) and at the top turn left for Llwydcoed. Follow this road down for almost 3 miles to a roundabout at the bottom of the hill. Take the first exit (towards Aberdare and Cardiff) Across the next two roundabouts (you will pass Tesco on your right) At the next roundabout take the first exit. Go under the railway bridge to a mini roundabout Take 3rd exit - to Cwmbach. Follow road for about 1 mile. Turn left at Total petrol station road swings right and up hill for 1/2 mile. Just after Post Office on left turn left into Blaen-nant-y-groes Road. Keep going up hill and you will enter our drive when the road ends. From the South-East and South-West M4 to junc 32 onto A470 north towards Merthyr Tydfil. After about 9 miles you will come to a roundabout. Take the first exit A4059 to Aberdare. After about 3 miles through traffic lights at Mountain Ash. Still heading to Aberdare. After about another 3 miles you will come to the first Aberdare roundabout. Take the 2nd exit to Cwmbach. Drive less than a mile and turn right opposite Total filling station. Road swings right keep going half-mile up hill turn left immediately after Post Office & shop. This is Blaen-nant-y-Groes Road. Go to the very top of the road and straight into our farm drive. Accommodation Gwyn (ground-floor studio) is the first door in the front of the cottages. Glas (loft studio) is up the wooden stairs on the end of the cottages. Arian (1 bedroom) is the middle cottage. The front door is at the back of the cottages - first door. Melyn (2 bedrooms) is the last door before you get to the steps up to our house.
