Pub and restaurant opening times Tuesday evening until Sunday afternoon. br / br / br / br / In the rolling green of the Cothi Valley the Dolaucothi has gone from drovers rest to coaching inn - run by David and Esther it s the picture of a cosy country pub - in the lounge bar the olive green chesterfield sofa cosies up to the wood burning stove flagstones in the back bar mismatched dining chairs in welsh wool and towering Georgian sash windows in the dining room an imposing dark welsh dresser serves a tiny shop selling homemade preserves. The beer garden stretches out behind the pub with views over the valley and the river. br / br / br / br / Our three cosy en-suite rooms are each a little different but they all have British made mattresses fresh cotton sheets and wool bedding as well as the wherewithal to make a pot of tea or cafetiere of real coffee with fresh milk and each has a digital radio. Breakfast is served in our sunny dining room we use local bacon and sausages apple juice from a nearby orchard our own bread preserves and eggs (when the hens are laying) plus lots of other carefully sourced delicious things. br / br / br / br / In the pub there s real ale and cider on the pumps from great Welsh breweries and our carefully chosen wine list from European vineyards includes organic and biodynamic bottles familiar grapes and regions and some surprising gems. Esther s menus evolve as ingredients come into season combining pub classics with more adventurous dishes all cooked here from scratch. Service is relaxed and informal we re a friendly bunch!
