The Sun is situated in Lancaster s Castle Conservation Area an area of critical historical importance located in the very centre of the city. Lancaster s wide range of shops restaurants bars museums and historical attractions all lie within a few minutes walk. Lancaster & Cumbria Universities are easily accessible from the hotel and the railway station is only 5-10 minutes walk away. Many of our guests use the Sun Hotel as a base from which to explore both the Forest of Bowland and the nearby Lake District. The Sun Hotel is owned and operated by Lancaster Brewery a fast growing regional microbrewery located on the edge of the city.

Directions to The Sun Hotel Lancaster

We re right in the heart of Lancaster s city centre with all transport links within easy walking distance. By Car From the North: From Jct 34 head into Lancaster city centre keeping in the right hand lane where possible. We recommend parking first to save an unnecessary trip around the one-way system. As you pass the traffic lights with Waterstones book store on your left move over to the left hand lane. Go through a further set of traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing and take the next left (which is at the bottom of a hill signposted St George s Quay) and the entrance ramp into the car park is immediately on your left. When exiting the car park on foot cross over the main road and head on to Church Street. We are just on the right hand side about 50 yards up the road. By Car From the South: From Jct 33 head straight into Lancaster city centre past the University and Infirmary. Keep in the left hand lane where possible and follow the directions above from Waterstones book store. By Train: From Lancaster: Train Station leave by the Ticket Office exit and turn right. As you reach the main road take a left and head into the city centre. You will reach a crossing with Waterstones book store on your right turn left and follow the direction of the traffic. At the next set of traffic lights take a right down Church Street and you ll come to our front door on your right in about 30 seconds. The whole walk is about 5-10 minutes.
