The town was the home of Dr William Penny Brookes one of the most influential pioneers of the modern day Olympic Games and in fact the oak beamed restaurant in the Gaskell is the place where Dr Brookes held many of his meetings. The hotel is within easy reach of a huge selection of Visitor Attractions including the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Centre with its numerous museums.

Directions to Gaskell Arms Hotel Shropshire

From the M6: Exit the M6 at J10a onto the M54 heading west. Exit the M54 at J6 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Lawley Drive (A5223). Continue for approximately half a mile and at the roundabout take the the 3rd exit onto Wellington Road (A5223). Continue in the direction of Much Wenlock and Ironbridge Gorgeway until reaching Jiggers Roundabout. Here take the 3rd exit in the direction of Much Wenlock onto the A4169. Continue on the A4169 onto Much Wenlock Road in the direction of Much Wenlock. Once in Much Wenlock continue on Farley Road into Sheinton Street (A4169) and continue onto Smithfield Road. After passing West Mercia Police Station on your left continue down the hill to the junction where you will see The Gaskell Arms in front of you.
