Snowdonia National Park

Submitted by Bryn Llewelyn Guest House on 05 May 2011

The Snowdonia National Park is covered by the Counties of Gwynedd and Conwy. Wales has spectacular scenery but the most dramatic scenery of all is the Snowdonia mountains. Not much can beat the view from the high peaks, with the highest of all being Mount Snowdon itself. And you can enjoy 2 wonderful experiences in 1, with a fabulous train ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway to take you to the top of Mount Snowdon, where there are amazing views which will have you saying simply "wow". Other attractions in the area include: * slate mines at the National Slate Museum Llanberis or the deep mines at Llechwedd; * medieval castles at Conwy and Caernarfon; * steam trains on the Welsh Highland Railway; * the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno; * the fabulous gardens at Bodnant Garden; * the world-famous Swallow Falls; and much, much more. Or for the energetic, there are a number of different routes up Snowdon from the socialable Llanberis path where you can wave to the train or the adventurous Crib Goch - a ridge walk for those with a good head for heights. For a walk where you could get a mountain to yourself, try instead Carnedd Llewelyn - only 70 foot lower than Mount Snowdon but a totally different experience. Other activities available in the area include: mountain biking on the Marin Trail, Penmachno Trail and many others; rope courses through the trees at sites such as TreeTop Adventure; rock climbing in those spectacular mountains. Whatever sport you want, it will be here! Come enjoy a warm welcome to Wales.
