Although the area is largely unspoilt, less crowded & commercialized than other parts of Devon, there is plenty to do to suit all tastes & pockets. Wonderful Northam Burrows beach/nature reserve providing a vast expanse of sandy beach is only 15 min's drive. The scenic coastal villages of Appledore (with book festival in Oct) Instow (with own beach) & Clovelly are close by just beyond the historic port town of Bideford (6 miles) from where you can take a ferry to the nature lovers paradise of Lundy Island. Dartmoor, Exmoor & the Cornish border only 30 min's.
