Mid Norfolk Railway runs through 11 miles of idyllic rural Norfolk countryside; it uses ex BR locomotives and carriages and DMUs.

SATURDAY 28TH FEBRUARY CLASS 47 DAY & DEREHAM’s MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION Saturday 28th February is our Class 47 100 mile running day! Resident locomotives 47596 “Aldeburgh Festival” in its attractive Network South East livery will be working alongside class mate 47367 and will haul 5 return trips from Dereham to Wymondham Abbey during the day. All trains will be heated throughout and an on train buffet will be available. MNR also intends to run a DMU Shuttle service from Dereham to Hoe. Timetable details are outlined below……….. First & last return trains from Dereham 9.00am 5.35pm First & last return trains from Wymondham 10.00am 4.15pm Last train from Wymondham to Dereham only 6.35pm Hoe trains depart 12.15pm, 1.15pm, 2.30pm, 4.20pm, 5.00pm ---------- DO visit the Model Railway Exhibition taking place the same day! Organised by the “Friends of Dereham Memorial Hall”. The Hall is just around the corner in Norwich Street; there will be many model locomotives with associated rolling stock to be enjoyed. A dozen or more layouts are expected and accompanied by many trade stands, modelling demonstration stands and several railway causes seeking support. Admission is £5 for adults, and accompanied children get in for free. ---------- MNR’s Principal Return Journey Fares Adult Return £15, Child £7, Family £30, Member £7. Hoe fare is £tba Please note the Kids for £2, Kids Go Free & Abellio Greater Anglia 2for1 vouchers and discounts are not valid at this event. Please note that there is NO PARKING at the rural village stations. --------------- Midweek services are expected to be run by the Class 101 Green Diesel Multiple Unit; from this vehicle the best views of the line ahead and the beatiful Norfolk wild and agricultural countryside may be seen. Class 101 can also accept at least 1 wheelchair into the main compartment. Reaching the MNR by public transport can be done by train and 20 minute walk between Wymondham Mainline and Abbey Stations. Mainline Station is served by the Greater Anglia [Abellio] hourly service to Cambridge, some East Midlands Trains stop as well. From Norwich the St Stephens rd [& adjacent bus station] can provide the 6[a],13,14,15 to Wyondham or the X1 and Konnect "fastbus" both these go to Dereham .

Parking: Dereham Station has its own car park, which is free for customers use. At Wymondham Abbey Station there is limited parking in Becketswell Road and also about 10 cars in a site next the Station.

Pets: Well behaved dogs are welcome on our trains, fare is 50p

Families: MNR's Dereham Station usually opens its Buffet on days when train services are running.

Disabled Facilities: Our midweek Diesel Multiple Unit or 3CIG unit have special spaces for wheelchair bound visitors, both have excellent visibility. Special Event trains will usually be ex mainline fleet and are less friendly as regards wheelchair bound people. We do hope to purchase a Special Vehicle suited to mainline fleet usage which has all the relevant facilities within.
