Imagine waking to the sound of the sea....... This small coastal haven is the perfect place to stay to discover south east Cornwall. One of the oldest dwellings in Downderry, Oak Bee Cottage was was extended and modernised in the Georgian era as a seaside villa. The guest rooms have uninterrupted sea views over an accessible garden which stretches to the sea cliff. Oak Bee is on the route of the South West Coastal path and an easy five minutes walk to the beach, restaurants, pub and shops. This is the perfect location for extra guests if you are planning or attending a wedding at one of the local popular venues such as: Lantallack, Pentillie Castle, or Polhawn Fort. For any Royal Navy events held at the HMS Raleigh in Torpoint Oak Bee is a convenient 15minute drive away and the Port Eliot Estate is nearby, home of the famous festival. Only 20 minutes from the City of Plymouth, it's the perfect place for the free-spirited, for those who yearn for fresh air and locally sourced produce. Beautiful views out to sea, nearby wooded valleys, big open skies and unforgettable sunsets. Its peaceful situation makes it an ideal retreat for a truly relaxing holiday. There are numerous nearby National Trust properties, Historic houses and gorgeous gardens to visit check the local attractions page. If you love a more active holiday then step outside and you are immediately able to access a variety of stunning coastal walks (see links page), or challenge yourself cycling around numerous undulating routes of varying difficulty. You can hire bikes at various points of the Camel Trail in North Cornwall and reward yourselves with some Rick Stein fish and chips in Padstow if you so desire. Alternatively watersports are abundant - have a trial run at surfing or kayaking, or even sailing - all things are possible and readily available. The bathrooms are designed to a high specification and have glass screen power showers. The Garden The south facing garden provides idyllic spots to sit and relax, enjoy the view with a glass of wine in the evening or a coffee in the morning. We ask guests not to smoke in the house or on the patio below the bedrooms, however, you are welcome to smoke in the garden. Breakfast Buffet style cereals, yogurt, fresh fruits, fruit juice, toast and marmalade jam or honey, coffee etc Fresh bread and homemade jams AGA cooked breakfasts including Full Cornish All ingredients locally sourced wherever possible, we can also prepare a packed lunch if you fancy a day at the beach or just don't have time to stop.
