At The Briers Country House we pride ourselves on making every one of our guests feel welcome in our home.

Nestled in the heart of South Down, our 18th Century Country House provides an excellent base at the foot of the Mourne Mountains whilst still being within easy reach of Newcastle and the many activities it has to offer. Just a 15 minute walk from the town, and less than an hour from the cities of Belfast, Newry and Lisburn, the Briers is in an ideal location for walkers, wedding guests and sight-seers alike. For the more adventurous, we offer a fantastic location to begin to explore the varied terrain around the area, with plenty of outdoor centres to help you on your way, whilst the luxurious seaweed baths and nearby seaside spas offer a less strenuous way to recharge your batteries. Breakfast: At breakfast you will have the choice of a cooked option from our extensive menu, which includes everything from an Ulster Fry to a 'Lite Bite', along with unlimited fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurts, tea, coffee and toast from our breakfast buffet! We endeavor to always use local produce.

Rooms: Our Rooms are individual, spacious and comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms (most with a bath and a shower, with the exception of our downstairs disabled access rooms). We can cater for singles, doubles, twins, family rooms, and have two disabled access downstairs bedrooms. Check out our facebook page and website for photos of all our beautiful rooms.

Parking: We have unlimited free parking in a safe, private car park situated at the back of the house. Suitable even for coaches or minibuses. Photos of the car park are available on our facebook site.

Wifi: We offer free high speed wifi in the Reception and Guest Lounge areas.

Families: Newcastle is a very family friendly area, and at The Briers we wholeheartedly welcome families of all sizes. In addition to our family rooms, we have toys in the guest lounge play area and plenty of information about fun things to do in the area. Our one and a half acre garden, which includes football nets and a basketball patio is perfect for getting the kids out of the house whilst still keeping them within safe distance.

Disabled Facilities: We have two downstairs disabled rooms, one with a walk-in shower, shower chair and rails. We also have an entrance close to specific parking spaces for disabled guests.
