Valvona & Crolla ltd, a family run company since 1934 is one of the UK’s longest- established specialist food shops and wine merchants. Managing Director today is Philip Contini, the grandson of co-founder Alfonso Crolla. He and his wife, the writer and food journalist Mary Contini and their elder daughter Francesca have steered the company over the last 6 years from the original shop in 19,Elm Row Edinburgh into a major presence in Scottish food retailing and restaurant trade.
