We try and get our horses out competing when not busy in lessons and most have done both show jumping and dressage at unaffiliated level and some at affiliated show jumping and British Eventing. We are also happy to teach people on their own horse whether it be just to improve or in preparation for a competition. Horses and Ponies For Loan Competent riders are able to loan a horse or pony from the centre, this can be on a short-term basis of a week at a time or long term. Some clients have loaned their horse for years having the enjoyment in looking after, riding and competing the horse without an initial outlay of purchase and then livery costs. All loan horses are used in riding school lessons, but can usually be done around the loaners’ requirements. Young Riders Fun learning for children aged 4 years and up. Children are encouraged to have fun while learning the basics of riding and handling our quiet ponies. Group Lessons Groups lessons are divided into ability. The separate levels, explained below, allow riders to progress through the groups at their own pace. Beginners are on and working to be off the lead rein in walk and learning the rising trot. Beginner lessons are also good for nervous riders or those gaining their confidence with riding before going to the next level. Novice riders are those learning sitting trot and beginning to canter. The more advanced novice lessons can also include learning about jumping. Advanced riders are those confident with or without stirrups in walk and trot, and cantering easily. Advanced lessons can include some basic dressage and jumping. Private Lessons Private lessons are taught on a one-to-one basis. They are ideal for working on specific problems, or to give a nervous rider a boost of confidence before they move up to the next group. They are also good for complete beginners so they can grasp and understand the basics of riding. Private lessons are also good for those who would be nervous or feel self conscious in a group lesson. Dressage Lessons These lessons can be private, semi private or group lessons. Ideal for those riders at a novice or advanced standard, wanting to develop better control and understanding of the horse. Lessons can include learning about basic dressage movements and riding a dressage test. If required, we can practice tests for local competitions. Show Jumping Lessons These lessons can be private, semi private or group lessons. Jumping lessons can be geared to those just beginning to jump or to those wanting to jump a course or work through a grid. Riders should be able to canter before they join jumping lessons, please check with your instructor first.
